What to expect
This 200hr training is committed to supporting you in becoming a knowledgeable and skillful teacher. The mornings are focused on you and your yoga practice so that you can continue to advance and further build depth and understanding of the postures. In the afternoons you’ll spend a lot of time working on every aspect of teaching, from intelligent sequencing and effective cueing, to practicing skillful hands on assists. You will learn initial thorough grounding in anatomy that is modern and logical. With this you will gain awareness of how to reduce risk of repetitive strain and over stretch injury in your students and understand why and how to create classes that build strength, mobility and active range of motion in your students in a balanced way. Through structured homework reading, lectures, and discussions about yoga philosophy, history and self-inquiry, you will also develop keen insight into the depth of this practice too.

You will come away learning to confidently teach a beginners and mixed level vinyasa yoga class, but also grasp how to tailor your sequences effectively depending on your teaching objectives, and develop a longer term curriculum too. Time will be spent gaining skills to navigate the business side of teaching yoga so that once qualified, you can start to successfully and skillfully offer your teachings to the market inline with your vision and values.

20 hours of the course will be non-contact in which you will be expected to complete a homework assignment. A reading list will be issued for before and during the course which you will be expected to work through and will be separate from the assignment. Final examination will be a practical observation of you teaching a class to other course participants, as well as an online exam.

About your teacher
Alice Gray is a Glasgow based vinyasa yoga teacher with over 750 hours of completed training and over 2000 hours of teaching experience. Her main teachers are Jason Crandell (vinyasa method) and Bridget Woods Kramer (anusara method) and is very grateful to have learned extensively from both. Alice teaches retreats locally and abroad and continues to lead regular workshops, mentorships and trainings orientated to both students and teachers of this practice. Her style is inclusive, thoughtful, anatomically informed, and non-dogmatic. While she takes yoga and its tradition seriously, she also takes herself lightly. Alice is passionate about making yoga relevant for modern bodies and minds.

“Alice is clear and direct as well as lighthearted and extremely passionate. She is incredible at giving advice and insight on teaching and I left studying with her with a barrel of knowledge I can keep coming back to time and time again. As a brand new teacher, she made me feel very valued and I walked away more confident that even though I’m new to teaching, I have lots to give.”

“I can’t recommend Alice’s courses enough. They are filled with a wealth of knowledge, insights and tools that you can really take away and use as a yoga teacher. The content is relevant and incredibly useful and it was delivered in such a fun and inspiring way. Alice presents the course in an incredibly professional and inspiring manner and her hard work and dedication to supporting other teachers shows through so positive. I feel so much better and clearer on my teaching direction. Thank you so much.”

About Move Studios
Move Studios is Glasgow’s first empowerment through movement studio, based in the city centre. Opened in March 2019, the studio offers yoga, pilates, dance and HIIT classes in a safe, welcoming and upbeat environment. The Studio was created with the purpose of bringing like-minded people together; creating a sense of community and promoting a feeling of empowerment and confidence. In today’s fast-paced environment, owner Debbie felt there was a huge gap in the industry for a movement space focusing on community and positivity. Move is also a place where life isn’t taken too seriously – it’s somewhere you can go, be yourself and just have fun!
